How to: create YOUR Zen.

So, let's start from the very beginning...

Here are some terms I think are important to understand. All definitions are from Noah Websters Dictionary Company aka Merriam-Webster.com

  • Zen - a state of calm and attentiveness.

  • Calm - a state of tranquility

  • Attentiveness - the state of being constantly attentive and responsive to signs of opportunity, activity, or danger.

  • Tranquility - (a) free from agitation of mind or spirit, (b) free from disturbance or turmoil.

Let's say this was the only piece of in-depth knowledge you had about the word Zen.

Walk with me.

Talk with me.

How can we create and respect our Zen?

How can you create stability in your life?

The bottom line - make an effort for things you want out of life.

If you are living a life of always complaining about EVERYTHING and ANYTHING, YOUR life will continue to give you what you can't stop talking about. So let change the way we speak to ourself internal and externally.

Back to the post.

Where does the word Zen align for you?

Or rather, where do you want to experience Zen in your life?

If you are having a hard time thinking of examples, I will share just a few of mine. I intentionally created Zen in spaces after not having it for so long, not defending it hard enough or, after dreaming and praying for it to one day happen.

It's here.

I am here.

My turn.

Tag, I'm it.

Physically (my home):

  1. I have a bunch of plants around, some are hanging.

  2. I have access to different scents, incense and candles, for aromatherapy.

  3. I have a super cozy, long, fuzzy onesie that is perfect for this shift in temperature.

Mentally:

  1. The windows in the apartment lets daily natural light. I like to tie the curtains up on each side into a loose knot every morning.

  2. I have daily check ins with myself on the balcony when the weather permits. If not, indoors will absolutely work.

  3. I am aware of MY reality. My undiagnosed mental health condition of Anxiety & Depression.

Emotionally:

  1. Everyday, I understand myself.

  2. Everyday, I show love to myself.

  3. Everyday, I give myself grace.

Spiritually:

  1. Prayer

  2. Mediation

  3. Like minded minds and souls - community

Financially:

  1. More intentional with spending money on things that brings me joy.

  2. Weekly budget check ins with self.

  3. I do not deprive myself of something I want and can get. I will delay it for a bit while I take care of other things. But also come back to YOU.

Creating your Zen can cost little to no money but maintaining your Zen requires effort. How silly of me would it be that I complain about my plants not planting but I do not make time to AT LEAST water it consistently? I have to water those thirsty plants so I can continue to admire their growth, good health and a stable home that I am providing to my 26 NAMED plant children.

Like I said early, bottom line: effort. I will talk more about ways to create your Zen with additional recommendations, share some of my trail and errors and lastly, my win on the next episode of Human Body, Spiritual Connections Podcast on Spotify. Please do not forgot to like and comment your favorite part of this blog. I would love to know how I am doing :-) .

Lastly,

If you can't make time for Joy, stop calling Her name.

I'll talk to you later.
